Yeah, and I sure do like the looks of the enameled exhaust manifolds on
that V12 Ferrari, but I'm a little turned off by the $250,000 price tag.
Someone who is willing to consider an 87A should probably also look at the
ACOM 2000. Myself, I think I'd rather have something that is a little less
fragile in the grid department, and I think of those listed only the
AL-1200 qualifies there. The "instant-on" filament on the 3CX1200 is
another feature that will appeal to the DXer.
The product reviews on www.eHam.net are a good source of information,
though far from unbiased.
