? I tested* the spotwelds in two Chinese 3-500Zs. Unlike
late-production Eimac 3-500Zs, the Chinese spotwelds were strong. All
of the Chinese spotwelds showed signs of having melted. (Clean-looking
welds are usually bad.)

* note -- the test: Slap side of tube firmly into open palm to generate
horizontal decelleration force on the anode-cooler. If the fin assembly
bends, the spotwelds are defective.

Editorial Comment (not recommended for Pollyanna types)
The Chinese seemingly have a talent for knowing what works and what
doesn't. For example -- For years they tried treating convicted
rapists, burglars and non-professional arsonists. However, it was
discovered that the re-offend rate was virtually 100% after "treatment".
The solution:
1. stop wasting money on "treatment" and incarceration that didn't
work.
2. execute all such offenders.
In the first action under the new policy, c. 50-000 were reportedly
'offed'. Currently, rapists, burglars and non-professional arsonists
are kept alive until they can be used for parts -- i.e.,
kidneys/livers/lungs/hearts/corneas are harvested promptly after
execution, packed in ice, and transplanted ASAP. Of course, first there
must be a tissue-match.

Meanwhile, in the U. S., convicted rapists receive "treatment". One of
my sisters-in-law was raped by a convicted rapist who had received
treatment during his incarceration.
'
