I used to spend money on "high tension" wire for HV runs. Then I used old
RG-21 and RG-213 hat looked too sad to put in the air. Then, after an
embarrassing incident mixing up some patch cords (exciter - amp, not HV) I
swore off coax and started using ...

Automotive metal-core spark plug wire. 16 or 18 ga core, 50,000 volt
silicone insulation, and it comes in pretty colors. It's also easier to
work with than coax, and is much more durable than any of the "high
tension" wire I've seen.

You perobably could press resistive wire into service, but since the
primary source for THAT stuff is the trash can -- well, if it's no good on
your car any more, would you really want to put it on your radio?
