For the low bands, I have used 10 gauge on Amidon's biggest red core.
But I want to try two or three paralleled #10's, taped together with
glass like a ribbon for 40M next. I have only used several layers of
glass tape on the core for insulation with 'enamel' wire wound over it
with 3KV and no problems. As per standard practice, have forced air flow
through the tank compartment.
