This technique is discussed in detail in any recent ARRL handbook and
works like a charm. I used it when converting a Heath SB-1000 to six
meters and it allowed me to use the original tune and load
capacitors. Highly recommended.
I disagree with Will's statement in one respect: You are not
"dropping" anything, just using the extra C to create an L-network
for impedance matching purposes. The original C is still there, just
being used differently.
