So Bob, this explains everything. A League membership supports an
organization that lobbies
Congress on behalf of amateur operators. In the recent rulemaking that
expanded the 'Phone
portions of some of the high frequency bands, the ARRL was quoted and
mentioned several times in the official FCC publication.
QST Magazine is a travelogue. The most important page is the editorial, and
that espouses
the direction the League wishes the hobby to take. The publication is read
by lawmakers
and interested parties, and these people are not interested in building
anything or fixing
anything.
