"Wise designers know this and stick to the specs"
K7MMK, a close friend of mine now deceased, was a U-boat commander in WWII.
He said that early in the war, the reason he survived was because he
regularly dove below the design hull depth of their submarine. That
protected him from depth charges. The Allies set the depth of the charges
based upon the design hull depth. Exceeding design limits kept him alive.
Sometimes, exceeding design limits will save your life! With a tube, the
worst thing that can happen is that it will fail. Remember, we are amateur
experimenters!
