I must be a real outlier. In recent years, I have bought an Ameritron
RCS-10, an MFJ-259B, and an MFJ-1025. All worked fine out of the box
and continue to do so. The stuff I build myself should work so well.
As an aside, my first MFJ purchase (~40 years ago) was their first audio
filter board (the CWF-1?), and when I needed tech support, I called and
MFJ himself answered the phone. Nice.

I've purchased some equipment a lot more expensive than MFJ's line and
found parts missing. One didn't even have a UHF connector on the back
fasted. The 4 screws were missing.
