One more step in the process is crucial to learning how to be an effective modeler: Design, Model, Test, COMPARE. You need to find out (and remember) the differences between what your modeling program predicted and the actual performance. Keeping a notebook helps a lot. It's a long-term incremental process to learn the limitations of modeling and how to account for them.
