FWIW......... About 5 years ago, I tried a independent Kenwood repair service in
the western U. S. and found it was a complete waste of time and money. I sent in
my TS440S for repair of a specific problem. I was told they could not recreate
the problem and shipped it back to me at my expense. As soon as I turned the
radio on, the problem was there. Being really dumb, I contacted them and sent it
back. Same story, now I am down about $200.00
Even though I had heard horror stories about Kenwood, I sent the radio to
Kenwood
in California. I had the radio back within a week and it has worked flawlessly
ever since.
In 1999, my TS850 developed a sensitivity problem. I shipped it to Kenwood and
they repaired it, even putting in a couple of mods, and returned it within a
week. Kenwood made me happy twice.
