9A6XX added:Like somebody mentioned before using a DX cluster and claiming unassisted is nothing compared to cheating on other stuff - excessive power and so on.
A few more dB just on the transmit side achieves more than a self-spot that changes a situation from CQing to oneself to a having a mini-pileup? Maybe by excessive power, we are talking _really_ excessive power, as those two examples would be far more beneficial by my reckoning than running gas - especially when gas doesn't help one hear better. Perhaps depending on where you are, abuse of spotting has a different potential & therefore a different perceived level of evil - just like in the case of power, the nearly 6 dB many have on a lot of us & still be within the rules may not sit right with the latter. Likewise, spotting abuse as a whole may not register with some as bad. A black holer self-spotting himself is not likely to achieve much in CQ WW, is it? ;^) 73, HL1/VR2BrettGraham _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/cq-contest |
