        I have seen some "contesters" berate newbies for:

        not answering fast enough
        Not calling CQ correctly
        Calling a station in normal fashion
        saying "Please copy"
        Saying "thanks"

        Early on, I caught some flack for one or two of the above. Both on  
the air and in person.

For some reason or other, it seems the scolded newbie is "busy" for  
the next field day.  Good work kids, another ham scared off HF.  
Experts should remember that not everyone was born knowing the  
correct operating procedure that they were born knowing!! ;^)

        It isn't a contest, and should not be treated as one. I still say  
please copy on Field day.
