remote receivers should not be allowed outside either one's zone or
country, i.e. no USA east
coast stations with west coast receivers. Otherwise it will be a huge
advantage for people in places like UA0 vs., say, UN.

I think ones zone is even to big. It should be limited to the same grid
square as the transmitter.
A station in FL using a remote receiver in VO1 on 160 will hear EU much
better. Same as a station in northern Sweden using a receiver in CU2 will
hear USA much better.

Remote receivers are like one way repeaters. Are we contesters moving
toward the shack on the belt crowd? I hope not.

I am all for remote operations where the XMTR and RCVR are at the same
site. That will encourage more participation especially from people living in
antenna restricted QTH's.

Lets keep the ionosphere in contesting not take it away. Part of the fun
and thrill I have in this hobby (besides talking to friends around the
world) is controlled by propagation. You never know what odd opening you may
encounter or how good certain bands will be from contest to contest. Every
QSO I make over the radio is still a thrill, even if its with someone
across town. If that changes I'll have to take up golf :)

I think every 48 hour contest should have a 24 hour category with minimum
one hour off times and every 24 hour contest should have a 12 hour category
like the IOTA contest. More categories will encourages more participation
or longer participation by people who can't do the full 48. What
percentage of single operator
entrants actually do 40-48 hours? Probably less then 5 percent.
