I don't think the comment below is 'sufficiently' skewed to be qualified as
an "off topic" remark. [probably close though]

Some years [actually decades] ago in an ARRL Directors' discussion there was
a 'debate' about what should be the definition of "A Real Ham". Skipping
over the several thousand words of Director opinion to the final consensus
decision.

" A 'Real Ham' is someone who thinks that they are. "

The point was that a "Real Ham" would find that their personal identity was
such that when they thought of themselves and their characteristics, the
fact that they were an radio amateur would always be a significant part of
the total.

Transforming that thought to the TBW discussion:

Since there are not going to be roving teams verifying that someone is
operating within some detailed definition of TBW, it should be sufficient to
simply say "Tri-Bander plus wires". Then if someone "believes" that they are
in that category allow them to be in it.

To allow persons to make judgments about the results you simple require the
TBW setup to be listed and supplied with the entry. For those who may care,
post the TBW setups on line with the contest results so the definitions can
be compared by those browsing.

I suppose the final step would be to start a reflector that was entirely
devoted to a detailed discussion/debate of TBW definitions.

Tod, K0TO
