Maybe they're thinking HAAT (Height above average terrain)? That might make
some sort of sense. If not, I should have more of an advantage at 2000
meters ASL :-)

The rule about early filing makes sense if you can get the majority of logs
in on time. But I wonder if the rule about equipment, antennas and ASL is
based on some idea that it is possible to deduce a link between received
signal strength, equipment used and possible cheating on power levels.

Is that the thinking? If it is, I'm dubious about the rationale. If it
isn't, and someone could explain, I would appreciate it.
