As a few people asked privately, here's the answer for everyone (Tom, who originated this email wasn't one of them. I'm just using the Reply list option).

Sink barely drained
Tub barely drained
Hallway (6th fl) 85+ degrees
Poor security:
Left key in the room on day 1. Went to front desk to get a replacement. Gave me a new key without asking for ID, just the room #! I spoke with the front desk mgr about this and he apologized syaing it would be addressed. Next day, key didn't work upon returning from the Arena. Went to front desk and they said they had do0wn as leaving that day. Fixed it, gave me a new key, again not asking for ID, just my room #! Room was tiny, with bathroom door barely clearing the toilet. I don't remember this from past stays.

On a positive note, the contest dinner was good. I was expecting rubber chicken, but was pleasantly surprised.

The other thing I would add, is that when I was there in 2011, thereSink
was lots of complaints after both the Topband and Contest dinners.
This year, I attended both, and I would say the food was good, service
was very good, and it was an all around great experience.

Improvement, especially in the customer orientation of all the staff, was
apparent immediately (last year).  This year a significant incremental level
of overall improvement was achieved, again, in my experience.  My room was

exception, the staff in all functions was extraordinary in their eagerness
and diligence to serve and address my needs.  This included front desk,
shuttle drivers, security, concierge, housekeeping, restaurant staff, event

After this last stay I was surprised to learn that the price I paid was less
than other hotels with less amenities.  These were hotels that other
Hamvention attendees claimed "were cheaper" than the Crowne Plaza.  All of
this, coupled with the concentration of contesting activities at the Crowne
Plaza, make it a no-brainer for me.  Thanks to everyone who disagrees with
this opinion because it increases the chance I can get a room there again.

Like the Hara arena, I think the Crowne Plaza has
deteriorated over the years.  I'll stay elsewhere next time.

I got an offer under my door during the Hamvention for 2014 at
$139/night.  I filled out the form and got a note the next
day saying
that my room was reserved.  No reservation number yet, and
the whole
thing was pretty garbled, so I will be following up in a few days,
but they obviously intended to try to nail us down.  I was
in a club
floor room reserved as part of the NODXA/Janeen Hire
block, so maybe
this deal was just offered to us (?)
