I used footswitches for many (40 plus) years and still have several around. But 
since I have a rig whose VOX is superior to any I have ever tried...That is all 
I do on SSB now. Especially with a headphone microphone. I love it!

Seeing who uses VOX vs a PTT switch would make an interesting survey. It
would also be interesting to see what other uses there are for foot
switches in the shack?

There are a lot of guys using vox.

I find it totally disorienting and feel out of control with VOX.  I prefer
positive PTT control and the foot switch provides that.

It's all what you're accustomed to, but I think you'd find that a majority
of those in the top ten would not use VOX.
