Bad example.
The "professionals" don't have to record themselves, there is someone
else doing the work.
You can still win the marathon or place in one of the top spots even
if during the race you lose the shoe-attached transponder that was
given to you before the start.
That's why the race committee puts a finish lynx on the finish line to
record all the athletes...it's a burden on the race committee, not the
runners.
Similarly I should be able to win the contest even if my audio
recorder went south during or after the contest.

In the past there have been several race winners came out of nowhere,
they were not "professionals" nor famous athletes nonetheless they
were able to win a race.
It could happen in contesting as well, unlikely maybe but not
impossible.
Taking away a deserved top spot because one wasn't expecting such a
good performance seems nonsense to me.
