What "sport" is even remotely similar to radio contesting with very
different playing fields and multiple categories?

Is there any other sport where a competitor can start in one category,
then in
the middle of the race...or even after the race...change their entry
category.
I can't think of one, which seems to indicate such action is unsportsman-like
at best.
