For what I know, none of the recent top 10 SOAB used Flex radios. At least
those outside the US.
Not sure how SOAB would benefit from Flex radios. Not needed for 2BSIQ.
Furthermore, redundancy is good.
Only one radio to so SO2R seems risky, in particular for those traveling
overseas.
Now, SOAB(A) or any other (A) categories like MS, M2, MM would greatly benefit
from Flex radios.
Integration with CW Skimmer, In-band stations, etc, are things that are a lot
more simple when using these radios.
You can have two stations with just one rig and one amp (e.g. Flex 6600M and
Flex Power Genius XL). Those two stations could work on separate bands or
In-band.
I would do SO2R SOAB(A), not with one 6600, but with two 6400. That way you can
have SO2R (even SO4R) and have hardware redundancy in place just in case.
