Personally, I think its long exchange and that you can’t work people more than
once in the contest. So rates slow down. Many of the aspects that the SS
crowd likes about the contest. But that just my opinion.

Do we know why there are fewer new contesters doing the SS than other contests?
Maybe the long exchange? Any other things turning off new licensees from this

If the people that do it every year want changes, great. But I think that
the notion it makes SS less slow on Sunday, or increases participation are
misguided.
The concept of allowing more than one QSO per band has merit to me, but I
have never been an SS fan due to the SLOW 50% of the contest.
