ChatGPT says that the most straightforward way to do what your friend
wants to do is to install a full Linux on the Chromebook (can be done
via a USB stick) and use something like N1MM+ (which can be run under
Linux), assuming his Chromebook is new enough to have a usable USB port
for the rig control.
ChatGPT also says, though, that Chromebooks are notoriously RF noisy and
the setup may require ferrites on all the cables.
Just a thought ...
Apparently there are web-based loggers out there as an alternative, but
not necessarily with rig control.
