I have a flashrom unit with a 800MHz processor on a 18 mile link and we get
about 4-5mbps. I really love my flasrom units. Except when they get struck
by lightning... :-)

In "clean air", you should expect about 5.5Mbps maximum out of this
configuration
As Charles said, use a flashrom module on a 300MHz or better machine and you
should expect to see about 6.7Mbps or better, depending on the equipment
you're using
