SIDC SOLAR BULLETIN 23 Aug 2004, 1237UT
SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 23 Aug 2004 until 25 Aug 2004)
SOLAR FLARES : Eruptive (C-class flares expected, probability >= 50%)
GEOMAGNETISM : Quiet (A<20 and K<4)
SOLAR PROTONS : Quiet
PREDICTIONS FOR 23 Aug 2004 10CM FLUX: 109 / AP: 007
PREDICTIONS FOR 24 Aug 2004 10CM FLUX: 104 / AP: 007
PREDICTIONS FOR 25 Aug 2004 10CM FLUX: 100 / AP: 010
COMMENT: The influence from the fast stream coronal hole has ended. The solar
wind speed has decayed to 400 km/s. The geomagnetic conditions turned quiet
again. We expect the conditions to remain quiet during the following days. Solar
activity is also low: GOES12 background X-ray flux is on B2 level. However
sunspot groups Catania 01 (NOAA 0663) and catania 02 (NOAA 0664) have the
potential to produce C flares.
