David,
Your setup or the propagation or for whatever reason is missing the
'shift-to-numbers' character. Therefore instead of getting the number 14,
the un-shifted numbers show on your screen as QR. It does happen from time
to time and you will most often see it when a sequence number is part of the
exchange. If it happens just remember the 'North West' keyboard rule, north
west of 'Q' is 1 and NW of W is 2 and so on. You will soon learn that 'TOO'
is 599.
The Krazy Canuck I seen sending MAR was actually NS. He was sending an ARRL
section and not the province as required in the rules. He did correct it
later in the contest, I guess after a few fellows sent him NIL or not in
log.
Welcome to RTTY,
de Eric.
(also a krazy canuck)

Subject: [RTTY] Why QR for the section????
I hit EE3R a couple of times. They kept sending QR for their section.
No one else seems to ask. So I ask. They just kept sending me
their exchange. I didn't know what to do. The program (N1MM)
certainly didn't like QR. It had showed 14 so I accepted that. What
am I missing?
I'm probably going to loose a QSO for the guy in Canada that gave his
province as MAR.
