And far too many AFSK users run their sound cards "sliders up full"
into mic inputs that clip even before the mic gain control. With
clipping in the mic input any wave shaping in the AFSK modem is lost.
All in all it's easier to generate a garbage signal with AFSK than
with a properly configured FSK transmitter even though the AFSK
signal may be marginally better if everything is optimum.
