Ed answered that question ... you don't want your call jumping a line
just when the S&P station is about to click on it.
The proper thing is for the S&P caller to start his response with
CR/LF to put his call at the left edge of a new line clear of any
garble/noise that may happen between the end of the CQ and his
transmission. Starting a call with CR/LF makes things easier for
the human operators as well as the software (skimmer).
