It's a good question. Looking at the replies there are plenty running 600W
or more in the USA. Why not, when your licence allows it?
Is it necessary for RTTY? No, not at all, unless you want to be in the top
1% in a contest or get to 300+ DXCC.
Here in the UK we are limited to 400W. With a decent antenna that's plenty
of power to work almost anything that you can hear. And get good results in
the contests!

TA-33SR is limited to a maximum of 600 watts for RTTY/FM.
