You might want to look at the power supply on your laptop - I thought
my laptop was noisy until I pulled the plug and realized it was fine,
it was just the switching suppy that was eating the bands alive. I've
gone through several cheap supplies, most of which are noisy, but
"borrowed" the PS from my wife's laptop and it's quiet. One of these
days I'm just going to build a 19v linear supply for shack use.
