Well, all I own is the Argo so perhaps that is why I have never seen this.

Excellent point. One that I've tried to make myself several times. I
don't own a Scout, but have used one, and I've heard from several people
that the problem is caused by heat. That's why only QRQ ops are affected
and the Argo/556 isn't affected.
Higher speeds and/or higher power = more heat.
Many I've heard from say that a fan to keep the rig cool has solved the
problem for them.
