Hello All,
I have managed, with great difficulty, to pry myself away from the
Orion. I find the rig to be very impressive. It is pretty intuitive and it
is not difficult to figure out the more basic functions. The manual will be
looked over very well and very soon.
With regard to Grant's comment about the knobs - I guess you have not
had an Omni VI. These knobs seem to be the same as far as I can tell. If
you remove the rubber grip band you will see the set screw(s) holding the
knob in place. Use the hex wrench provided and remove the "offending" knob.
There should be a tension adjustment assembly under the knob. (it is NOT
necessary to remove the knob to adjust the tension) Removing the knob will
make it easy for you to see how this tension adjustment works. Perhaps the
knob just is not set on the shaft properly. Mine seem to be okay. As far
as MARS operation is concerned - there probably IS a setting to enable that.
Now - as for Ed - - - Sorry - I have been so busy playing with the Orion
that I totally forgot about the box! I will simply have to play with that
at a later date and, unfortunately, this means that I can't send it to you.
Sorry :-(
Oh - About the meter - - - the S-meter does the same thing that Grant
mentioned. It occasionally acts like there is a strong noise spike. In my
case - I have noticed this effect only on 17 meters. I will certainly keep
an eye on that behaviour.
This is a great rig and, in my opinion, WELL worth the wait. Ten-Tec
need not worry about getting my Orion back during the trial period or
afterward.
I hope that all the backordered Orions get delivered soon. Have a great
weekend. 73, Bill

PS: Don't forget about the net AND don't forget about the Ten-Tec "One Day"
sale on Monday! There should be some great deals on some great stuff!!!
