I know this is a little off topic, but reading this post, gave me a bit of a
chuckle.
The author mentioned someone was gathering information for a class action
suit
against ICOM.
Usually class actions are taken on by attorneys that expect to gain a
substantial
amount of money from the defendant. There is just not enough money in these
types of threatened suits to interest any attorney. So, anyone who wants to
take
on Icom, Kenwood, etc., will be paying for a lawsuit out of their own
pockets. I've
seen this situation over and over (the threats that is) and nothing ever
results. It
just gives people the illusion of progress when gathering the group and
information.
I remember the threatened class actions against Yaesu over the FT100,
FeaturePrice
over web hosting, etc. They contact attorneys, no one wants the case on a
contingency
basis, so when it comes to putting up money, the class evaporates.
Of course, to put a TenTec slant on this, makes you feel good you have a
TenTec(s)
doesn't it?

One caution about the 746 pro: I understand they have a rather frequently
occuring flaw in the P.A. section. I read somewhere that quite a few people
have
experienced complete P.A. failures and the factory is aware of it but has
yet
to implement design changes. One party was gathering info from 746pro owners
to start a class action lawsuit against the factory. I think the TT Jupiter
would be a much better rig if you can live without the 2M band. The FT-1000
is
an interesting rig, but I have also heard that Yaesu of late has experienced
Q.C. Problems. I'd say the 6+ is the way to go on the used market if not
priced
over $1500 +/- various options. 73, T.
