Oops, I forgot...there are two optional 9.3 MHz filter positions in the VI.

Rick,

I agree with you, but I wanted to cascade two narrow filters for RTTY.

I remember having to rotate the bandpass tuning clockwise (to maybe 3-4
o'clock) with the 500 Hz filter (or was it the 250?) in the 6.3 MHz IF.

But to cascade two narrow filters for RTTY, the one in the 9 MHz IF could
only be the model 216 500 Hz FSK filter. Since there is provision for only
one optional filter in that IF, one has to chose one mode to optimize with
cascaded filters.

Jim, that's not fully correct about the OMNI VI+.
Although the "preferred" way is to purchase the special "Data"
filter, it is also possible to use the standard 500 Hz filter and
just adjust the bandpass tuning to compensate for the 500 Hz
offset. I ran lots of RTTY that way with the OMNI V, VI and VI+.

Sri, I didn't test the ORION on RTTY.

I am curious if anyone has tried an Orion on RTTY (FSK) and how well the DSP
filtering works. I'm remembering when I had an OMNI VI / option 3 and had
to have a special RTTY crystal filter, which wasn't a plus (no pun intended)
as far as I was concerned, as it took a precious slot just for that mode.

Thanks,
