The new mobile rig ScoutII will appear in the same cabinet as the original.
Instead of the plug-in modules, the new technology will accomodate the usual
hambands including 5, 50, 144, 220 and 440 mhz bands. Otherwise the Scout
will have changed little in its appearance and performance specs. 50 watts
out is more than adequate and so it can use the same size heatsink. A
metron-like solid state no tune amp could accompany this rig as a QRO option
in a latch together configuration with a handle. The handle could contain a
mic., key, and headphones.
James Bond might have had this designed by Q had I not described it in such
detail.
The remaining room in the case might be used to place other items you might
need on your date with destiny, like a speedo and beach towel, a tower and
yagi w/rotor, or just simply the motorized parts necessary to make your own
matching device having removed the 500' spool of #12 copper stranded antenna
wire.
