Salut everyone,

Nice to see the reflector hackling well. Quite a few members with their hackles
up as well!
Being only a humble Corsair2 owner, have rejoined to impart a piece of
information. Lost the display readout on power-up just after completing the WPX
cw contest. Ten-tec always prompt with advice could only sugeest pluggery or
dry joint. After re soldering the entire display board, the fault persisted.
With digital probe I narrowed it down and found C28 2.2 mfd electrolytic, Pin
28 on U10 display micro-controller suspect. Changed it for 1mfd tantalum with
immediate result, a rock solid display. Have seen various Corsair display
complaints over the years especially on the flickering green 100 hz readout and
am sure this may be due to a deteriorating C28.
2. On rig comparison, my other is a JRC JST135 chosen for it's excellent
receive qualities. On receive the Corsair beats it hands down and renews my
faith in this wonderful old lady which I rate one of the best cw contesting
rigs ever.
3. I have owned two Corsairs, the original is now kept for spares. Since the
start I have done all my own repairs right up to PA final transistors and am
willing to help out if anyone has any Corsair queries direct to
malcolm.mcleman@free.fr
Best regards to all,

Malcolm/F5VBU/GM3UIN
