I've been contemplating an Orion since its introduction while continuing
to enjoy my 544 and Corsair II. From the introduction of the Orion
until present day, my concerns about price/usability/bugs have kept me
from becoming an Orion owner.
Now, judging by the features described in
http://radio.tentec.com/Amateur/Transceivers/TT565 it appears to me that
Orion I owners are being orphaned, upgrade path-wise that is. If that's
correct then it's a real shame considering the leap of faith these
Ten-Tec loyalists exhibited and the bumpy road some have had to endure.
Wasn't there popular call on this reflector for a better/color display?
Didn't TT imply it was unnecessary/not immanent?
I wonder if the "All-new firmware from the ground up" is compatible with
Orion I, and if not, how much of TT's resources will be spent on
improving Orion I firmware going forwards?
Hopefully TT will offer a *very* attractive trade-in for these pioneers.
[Orion I loyalists/TT parishioners can "flame-on" now]

Guess that explains the delay in firmware version 2!
