Define "mid power". To me that always means rigs that
are more than QRP and less than 100W. Your definition
might be different.

The state of the art can be had for $800 with the
Argonaut V which is a super rig. The 7dB difference
between 20W and 100W will make very little difference
(like an S unit plus) if you have a decent antenna.
You'll still work most of what you hear. The receiver
is superb.
If that is too expensive I really like the old Argosy
or Argosy-D if you find one with filters. That can
usually be had in the $250 price class.
