I hear this distortion also.  I do not hear it in 2.054 but I do here it 
in this firmware version.  Hang time helps but does not eliminate it.  I 
hear it worse at the wider bandwidths.
If you find a solution let me know.  It concerns me that not many other 
people hear this so I wonder if it is something unique to a few radios. 
 I have not performed the V2 mod, if that makes a difference.
