Its pretty sad that some people believe the ARRL did anything to
keep
code. Regardless of multiple member polls, they've always been lukewarm
code supporters at best.

The FCC I understand...they're a big lazy bureaucracy, and we're
nothing
but a money sink. Their success at getting away with abdicating their
responsibilities is impressive however. Can you imagine if long haul
truckers were able to get their drivers licenses from trucker school?

A sad day. Off to the bottom end of 20, before the ARRLs winlink
jammers
get to it...

As a professional driver I find your response both insulting and stupid. The
fact I will not be required to learn a "foreign language", Morse code, has
no bearing on what type operator I am or will be upon upgrading. Morse code
is not amateur radio. It is one of many means and methods of transmission,
and admittedly one which some day I may wish I knew, but it isn't the
determining factor of good and evil. Would it help you and all the other
insecure souls who are wailing and gnashing their teeth if we reinstate the
code requirement and to further help you feel secure add Swahili to the
requirement list?
