Grant,

Suggest you contact Paul, W8ZD, phd73@mindspring.com who is in the processing of replacing the power distribution board in his Orion.

This could perhaps solve your problem also.

Lee N0LYW

Well, I fired up the II today after not having much time to play radio over
the Holidays, and guess what. It worked the first couple of power cycles
and then ... Dead again. Once every 15-20 tries to turn it on it will boot
up after what seems like a longer than usual delay. Otherwise, it's just
plain dead -- except for a relay click and the pilot light on the S-Meter.

Maybe this U500 thing was a convenient scapegoat ... And the real problem is
still lurking in there.

Sigh .... :-(

I shipped my dead II to T-T on Dec 5, and got it back working today, 2 weeks door to door. Turned out to have been U500 on the logic board. The really
good news is that it's the first time in memory I've had something break a
couple of weeks BEFORE the warranty expired rather than the day AFTER :-)

Pretty good service, I'd have to say.
