Hey Larry how you doing

HNY

Great advise --- Mine has never locked up.... so wish I had a way to load some
values besides the user key on the front panel which sets it back to zilch

N4PY software does offer some hope however

It's a fantastic radio. But just like a fantastic girlfriend, she has a
quirk or two, and you have to be prepared for that. Nobody and nuthin' is
perfect, right. Bar-none, the best receiver I have ever owned.

One of the most remarkable features of the Orion is that if you don't like
the current rev of firmware, you can always go back in time and use a
previous release. Having said that, the current level is very, very stable,
and I have little to complain about. It has NEVER locked up in the year
that I've owned it, nor has it ever had to have a master reset to get it
restarted. More than ready for prime time. I'm an avid contester and dxer,
the radio is on every day, and sometimes for hours and hours at a time
during contests. It's a CW man's dream...and it's no slouch on SSB either.
The filtering is a marvel to use.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with my O II. It's an amazing radio. The
longer you have it, the better you'll like it.

I promise.

Guys and Guyettes,
After many years of blissfully enjoying my Omni VI+, I am very close to
buying an Orion II. In the process, I can't help but notice what appears
to be
an understandably long list of needed software fixes.
I would greatly appreciate the group's sense of how those glitches affect

you all. Generally speaking, do you find the latest release functionally
solid? I'm not too worried about some of the minor things, but I wouldn't
want
to buy just yet if the radio has fundamental operating issues. Are there
lock-ups? Are basic functions reliable? Is it ready for prime time?
  Thanks.
Bernie K5XS
