Of course, if you happen to look at the Transceivers page,
http://radio.tentec.com/amateur/transceivers , what's the first radio shown?
The Orion! And it even has a page all it's own --
http://radio.tentec.com/amateur/transceivers/566 , with further links to
reviews, the brochures, and the firmware update page.
Certainly the sign of 2nd or 3rd class treatment, to be featured as the
first transceiver. Yup, Bob is absolutively posilutely right, how dare
Ten-Tec even consider mentioning something else besides the Orion.
Now, setting the sarcasm aside for a moment, what I think is sneaky is that
Ten-Tec hasn't updated the model number of the Jupiter to differentiate
between the original and the new... ok, sure, it's only a cosmetic
difference, but one has to wonder if someone decided that rebranding the new
rig as the "2" model would start up all the "Lost in Space" wisecracks
again.

Yep, looks like us Orion and Orion II owners arent even second class
citizens now. The Omni VII gets this gigantic photo on the first of the
"Radio"
wesbsite page and the Orion II gets this miniscule little photo cut.
Very unsettling to see the TT emphasis on the lesser radios and the Orion
line not even shown in the "40 Years of Ten Tec" ad. The handwriting is on
the
wall folks.
Also, note how sneaky they are now in not even showing the revision dates
for the firmware upgrades. Probably because its been exactly one year today
(5/16/2007) when the last Orion II update was issued. Not real comforting.
Orion III?
