You're right about the weight to performance difference between the radios, but at least there are no long strings of e-mail complaints about firmware upgrades on a BC-610. I'm just glad that I did not have to carry one of those on patrols. The PRC-25 was plenty heavy enough.

The BC-610 was a World War II era military AM transmitter.  I had the
pleasure of using one at the MARS station when I was in Air Force ROTC at
LSU back in 1958.  The main thing I remember about it is that it was
extremely heavy..... It probably weighed over 100 pounds.

The TenTec Orion is way better from a weight-to-performance aspect.
