When searching, the mounting dimensions are the last thing found on the
spec sheet if there. Speakers are traditionally described by the outside
diameter, whether round, pincushion or oval. All I found at Mouser and
Digi-Key in oval were metric and being discontinued. The maker's spec
sheet wwouldn't come up to find the mounting hole dimensions. Some other
places I looked like MCM found no oval speaker by searching for oval
speakers, but found thousands when searching for speaker. Then some that
came up didn't show the mounting demensions while some did on the spec
sheet. I tried Jameco, no oval this week. I'm not sure MCM is a surplus
outlet, its a division of Farnell in GB that owns Newark. I tried
Allied, but not Newark, I prefer to not deal with either unless there is
no other place on the earth with the parts I need. Allied because when
they were bought by Tandy to get their retail audio stores in the
Chicago area, they raised their prices 10% above the competing
distributors and are still at least that much higher. Newark because
they charged extra to use a credit card, and shipped a small order from
two or three locations (where some of the parts were surface mount parts
in quantity ten weighing about 100 to the ounce) charging the credit
card surcharge and shipping from each locatioon. $3 shipping for parts
that could have come first class for 32 cents (yes its been a while)
made that order that was basically for a large electrolytic to fix a PA
system with the other parts added to get up to their minimum ended up
costing nearly twice the price of the capacitor. I used to have an
account with Newark. The last time their rep called, I told her that the
devil would be sending out for hot coffee before I ordered again, unless
the part couldn't be found anywhere else and she has seen to it that I
don't get their catalog either. I do have a new Allied catalog which is
huge but has more other stuff than radio parts.
