The choice of an external keyer may depend upon what you want to do.
Your post indicates that you probably will use memory features. For
that, the Logikeyer is just fine. If you want to go one step beyond and
have the outboard keyer with memory features for contesting or special
event operating, but also want to have the ability to log and send just
from the keyboard of a computer using a logging program like SD, N1MM or
any of the others, you might want to look at the K1EL Winkeyer 2. It
can draw its power from the computer via the usb port connection, or if
you want to use it as a stand-alone keyer, you can use it with common AA
batteries.
