Are you storing the message in memory by keying with the paddle or using
software to program the memory?
If you are hearing the chopped character in the Orion monitor have you
verified that it is actually being chopped by listening on another receiver?
I cannot duplicate this with my Orion II.

I did the reset several times before audio returned. Same problem. Chops
off first dash. Back to the trusty external keyer.
