Hi,

I will contribute something for fun as well.

In 1976 I got my ham license and bought an Argonaut 509. I had just finished getting my first class radiotelephone license and the radio station I worked at required us to give the temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit. So I learned a few temps because we used them a lot living on the Central coast of California. I didn't like Celsius.

Now I live in Minnesota and when the temperature gets below zero Fahrenheit the number is just pretty much meaningless. It's just cold. Now I appreciate Celsius because -23c makes sense since we know that it is 23 degrees below freezing.

So now when I cut a dipole for 20 meters I just keep it in metric and cut a bit more than 10 meters.
