Was it working before you started this?
If it was, you possibly did disturb something as what you're seeing is likely
due to xtal oscillator and/or PTO signals not getting into the low level
chain properly. The first thing to check (if your rig is high enough s/n or
has been modified per the factory) is the back panel jumper across the VFO
in/out RCA jacks. Just off the top of my head from what I recall, if it's
missing that could cause what you're seeing.
