Just adding to my points below. Is the transmitter working okay? If not
maybe try bridging the crystal filter?

Hi Snowy,
Whenever I've had similar problems, and it does happen time to time
here though different rigs, never seen an Argosy, it's often a result
of a nearby surge event, lightning strike. Look at T1 and T6 to see if
they are particularly fine wire. In all the cases I've seen similar
deafness it has been either switching diodes that are open circuit or
a fine wire transformer with an open circuit winding. Even with the
sig gen as far back as C11/D4 I would think -80 to -90 should produce
a fair signal.

Hi SteveOk injected signal into con 32, no difference to sensitivityAs for why
r25 burnt out I can't answer that but it was definitely cooked.I have spoken to
the ex owner of the radio and he states that he was using it thru' a tuner when
it went wrong and he smelled smoke, the burnt components! That was why I changed
the sensing diodes in case they had been damaged.Snowy G0HZE

How sensitive is it if you inject a signal directly after the BPF at
connector 32 on the RF mixer board? That would eliminate a lot of the
front-end diode switching.
PS - not sure why R25would burn out - it doesn't carry any DC current
according to the schematic.

Hi SteveThanks for replying my shout for guidance on the ARGOSY 2 525d problem that I
have.Yes it is the same on all bands. Now on removing the top cover to look at the innards
I saw on the mixer board I had 3 x burnt components 2 x 8.2ohm and 1 x 150ohm
resistors ( R,s 24-26),these changed as well as the associated small 'C,s, again no
difference ,I have followed the path back from the 'S' meter and replaced Q2 and Q11
on the if/audio board, no difference.Went back to the low pass filter ( the odd numbered
one 91696 not what is in the manual) and changed the BAT41 diodes in the sensing circuit,
you guessed it, no difference.HELP hi hiI have noticed that it seems to be off frequency,
I inject a signal of 7.050mHz but seem to get a better tone at 7.045mHz and a small bit
of life in the 'S' meter but it still requires a massive input signal in to show any
life, the TX indication is spot on.Regards73Snowy
