Thanks to a number of you that replied!I will not attach to the old fence, as several of you strongly suggested ;-), and I will use a couple of short ground rods with as much radials as I can put down around the end, probably 6 or 8 of them 30' long. I appreciate the advice. 73, Dave NØRQ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave NØRQ (lists)" <n0rq-lists@sbcglobal.net> To: "Topband Reflector" <topband@contesting.com> Sent: Thursday, December 02, 2004 10:36 PM Subject: Topband: Beverage grounding over rock I'm improving the grounding on my Beverages -- using 2 4' rods at the feed and endpoint of each. However, one of them (single-wire, terminated) ends at a point where the ground is very rocky. I can only get a ground rod in about 1 foot. There is a standard barbed wire fence going by less than 10' away, with normal T-posts. Would hooking to it as a ground be of any use? Or, Should I just use 4 or 5 1' ground rods? Or lay some bare copper wire on the ground (I can't bury it)? Or some combination? Thanks. -- Dave NØRQ _______________________________________________ Topband mailing list Topband@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/topband _______________________________________________ Topband mailing list Topband@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/topband |
